The emergency flotation equipment is packed into an orange P.V.C. valise 68 cm x 30cm x 25cm and weights 19kg. The valise is fitted with a 12kg removable ballast weight to give neutral buoyancy. Total weight of bag and ballast is 31kg. Ports in the valise enables air to escape and flooding when below water.

CAN BE DEPLOYED AT DEPTHS OF UP TO FORTY FEET
Opening a flap on the valise gives access to a 2.6m nylon strop with a stainless steel snap hook for attaching the bag to the ditched helicopter.
The bag is activated by pulling a line which fires a CO2 cylinder inflating the bag in 10 seconds. Inflated size is 2.13m x 0.6m diameter giving 567kg of buoyancy.
The CO2 cylinder is fitted with a safety discharge disc venting the cylinder to atmosphere in the event of the cylinder being over-pressured..
